The end justifies the means

This week had good and bad things, but in general it was good because I made my first pull request and I am very proud of that because the week before it seemed too difficult to achieve it.

It’s all about time

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I was 6 months ago, and I’ve changed too much. I have learned how to take advantage of time and although I still need to improve that, I have realized that time passes doing what we like or not. I have rethought my life and I am once again clear about my goals and knowing why I am doing what I do right now. Although everything has been very difficult lately I like the phrase “the end justifies the means” and it is true, this whole process of becoming a software developer has not been easy at all but the goal of being one motivates and inspires me too much so the hard way doesn’t stop me.

All of this has made me think that a life with purpose is a life that is a pleasure to live.

First contribution to open source

Contributing to open source for the first time has been very exciting, as I already mentioned, it was something that seemed to be too difficult (and it has not been easy), but I have learned that the most difficult thing is always to get started (this applies to everything).

I’ve been looking at many open source projects and I have learned how to read other people’s code and how to better understand the issues present in the projects.

Be present

I consider myself a person who is easily overwhelmed, so I try to separate my times to the point that while doing task 1 I tried to forget task 2. This has made me focus better on the task I am doing at that time but it has brought me certain problems that I was unaware of.

At the beginning I used to be attentive to everything I was involved in at all times, even combining the personal with the professional. This caused me a lot of stress so I decided to separate everything. I have learned that one end of the stick is not solved by reaching the other side, I need to balance things. Let me explain, to solve a black situation, you don’t have to change it for a white one, it can be gray, finding the best balance for this solution.

The help of your co-workers can really be helpful in terms of resourcing, finding the right way to solve something. Or in my case this: helping me to use the tools at my disposal to actually be more present and communicative.
